2005 Taipei International Healthy Cities Conference and Exhibition

2005 Taipei International Healthy Cities Conference and Exhibition is a forum where cities may exchange practical knowledge in creating Healthy Cities. The international nature of the conference facilitates the creation of global partnerships between civil organizations and municipal administrators, namely:

  • International organizations,
  • Government, regional and local authorities,
  • Non-government organizations (NGOs)
  • Private sector enterprises

2005 Taipei International Healthy Cities Conference and Exhibition consists of speeches and discussions, an Exhibition and a half-day Healthy City Leaders Roundtable. The conference covers ten major themes:

Safe city: Hazard prevention and safety
Understanding city: Tolerant communities and proactive social services
Clean city: Sanitation and environmental protection
Cultural city: Education, cultural development and preservation
Efficient city: Well-informed society and convenient transportation
Spirited city: Dynamic public health management and disease prevention
Sustainable city: Tenable and forward-looking urban development practices
Flourishing city: Promotion of new industries, revitalization of old districts
United city: Fair distribution of all resources, Health for All
Lively city: Recreation and sports promotion for a healthier life


With collective efforts from its twenty-three Departments, the Taipei City Government welcomes you to the Taipei Healthy Cities Conference 2005.

October 29-31, 2005, three interdependent events will take place
The Taipei International Healthy Cities Conference will consist of a series of debate sessions and a lively Exposition. On the last day, city mayors will attend a half-day City Leaders Roundtable, which will stimulate the flow of ideas, encourage the development of shared visions and promote the exchange of skills and knowledge.

An Exposition to facilitate interaction:
The Exposition will bring together local communities, city governments and international institutions.
The Exposition will be the occasion to:

  • promote the work of the local communities and city governments,
  • meet with decision makers and establish networks,
  • form effective partnerships,
  • benefit from the unique international media coverage.

An International Conference to transfer knowledge:
Taipei Healthy Cities Conference, through the efforts of thirty-two Taipei city departments, will provide a conference program with presentations by renowned speakers. Topics such as:

  • preparing for future challenges,
  • developing problem-solving strategies,
  • generating new projects and concrete experiences,
  • creating new ideas and innovations for private sectors.

City Leaders Roundtable (Note: By invitation only)
This event will be carried out in the City Hall as a courtesy to the visiting mayors. A half-day event will be devoted to:

  • discussing urban administrative policy,
  • finding effective means to deliver environmental and social well-being to urban dwellers,
  • encouraging an international network,
  • developing strategies against regional insecurities.
